Case Study MINCOM – ABB – HITACHI
This is narrated by a former Mincom/ABB Manager who directly experienced this case story:

We at Mincom had at some point 21 customers with a good amount of Ellipse customizations to core system and satellite developments/applications in place (Connector scripts, integrations, loaders, interfaces, etc) that were extremely difficult to maintain and support. We struggled to keep current those developments, the Quality Assurance process was also very difficult because we did not have the proper resources availability as they were focused on other internal core priorities. It was a nightmare to bring those customizations and developments to the latest version every time there was an Ellipse Upgrade.

Then it appeared SUMMA helping us initially with a few local resources not only to upgrade those developments but also to take care of new customer requirements in this space for a specific upgrade project. Summa added value included its ability to better capture requirements and develop them into code at lower costs and much better response times.

It went so well with this project that we at Mincom/ABB decided to sign an agreement with SUMMA allowing them to support in a day-to-day basis all our customers customizations and address new development requirements for all customers installed based in South America.

All this allowed to move Mincom/ABB in Chile, as an example, from a 0 EBIDTA state to another one where we covered the relatively low SUMMA costs whilst moving the internal resources that were freed in this process to their main business activities (Ellipse core support and consulting) thus incrementing considerably income, profit and margins.

Above story highlights the situation on how Hitachi is not only SUMMA partner but also has become a SUMMA customer to eliminate their gap in addressing Hitachi customers’ needs associated not only to daily and operational Ellipse system support and developments services but also on Ellipse functional requirements as result of every time less available knowledgeable resources in this space.

As result of this story and excellent commercial relations between Hitachi and SUMMA, it is common now to find situations where Hitachi allows and/or invites SUMMA to participate in bids where Hitachi has also been invited as a mean to warranty Ellipse permanency in the region.
